My Father’s Day PRAYer

I must confess!  Over the past month, I have allowed the busyness of my daily activities to push my workout time right off of my schedule.  And oh, how I have suffered the consequences:  sickness, fatigue, the lack of mental clarity, and a few extra pounds just to name a few.  Therefore, I have recommitted myself to a personal daily discipline of physical wellness.  Since my body is the only place I’m going to live, I must take the time to show my body some Love every single day.[1]  Otherwise, my body will make its demands for Love whether I like it or not and whether I think I have the time or not.   Either way, my body will get what it so desperately needs–a time and a place of rest, recovery, rejuvenation, and restoration.
Ok My Brothers, Listen up!  This one is for you.  It’s time for you to…

Rest in Peace
As the second anniversary of my earthly father’s transition approaches, I have given myself permission to reflect on several defining moments he and I shared together.  Being the eldest child, we walked together through some very difficult life situations.  Besides the untimely death of his wife (my mother), one of the other most heart wrenching life-crisis was his seven and half year season of unemployment.  After faithfully working for one particular company for almost twenty-five years, after promotions, a demotion, and a few relocations, he was released from his position less than six months shy of being eligible for certain financial benefits commensurate with his time of service.  In light of the fact that my father still was financially responsible for his wife and two youngest children, the demonically induced time-sensitive crisis seemed so wrong!  And it was.
By this time, I was an adult child with a family of my own.  Therefore, my perspective of this particular struggle rang deep in the crevices of my soul.  I was able to see more things and had more insights than when I was thirteen–my age when my mother transitioned from this life.  I saw how the series of rejections took its toll on the very fabric of my father’s soul.  I witnessed relatives, so-called friends and fellow “brothers and sisters In Christ” pass judgment on a situation they knew very little about.  They weren’t the ones going through the paper week after week, going on interview after interview, and desperately searching for a place that would give him the opportunity once again to be the resource to his family.  My father’s pain became my burden as we both sought Love earnestly for A Way of escape.
As life on earth would have it, I found myself walking down this same road with my own husband (my children’s father).  Not once or even twice, but three times in eighteen years.  Now as a wife and mother, my husband’s pain was my burden as we both sought Love earnestly for His Way of escape.

My Brothers, Find Your Place of Rest!
From my perspective, one of my father and husband’s greatest struggles during these seasons was that the circumstances of their lives appeared to be a contradiction to what they envisioned.  It appeared that employers and even clients were blind to “the king” they saw morning after morning in the mirror.  Why couldn’t everyone else see who they instinctively knew they were called to be?   Why weren’t they experiencing in reality what The King gave them permission to imagine?
In my experience, I have found that when Our Brothers–whether that be our fathers, husbands, boyfriends, sons, brothers, uncles, cousins or even co-workers–find themselves in this potentially paralyzing predicament, they look outside of themselves for the answer when The Answer within is ever ready to show them The Way.  However, instead they search and search outside of themselves for “someone” to come to their aid when the crisis itself is an invitation for them to seek Love with their whole heart and humble themselves to His Plan of accomplishing His Will in their lives.[2]  Similar to a bow and arrow, it may appear that they’re being pulled back.  However, the faith tension of the moment promises to release them with divine force to go farther than they’ve ever gone before; being more and eventually making more of an impact in the world then they initially imagined.[3]
I must say, it takes a true champion in Love to conquer a victim mentality when it appears all the forces of hell have been unleashed against your progress to provide for your family.  The antidote for such “dis-ease” is embracing The Truth that the extreme opposition one faces is a clear indication of the extreme value one already possesses.  There is a place of rest where Love desires to display the manifold wisdom of “the king” within.[4]  The Key is to Re-discover that Place and live in the Light of Truth![5]
Therefore, My Brothers…Here’s My Father’s Day PRAYer for You:  Be strong and very courageous![6]  Choose to re-discover your p.l.a.c.e. where purpose is located at the center of efficiency.  Jesus came that you might experience the opportunity to flourish and prosper effortlessly, extravagantly and freely in authentic expression.   Take joy in being who God created you to be regardless of the circumstances, situations, or the opinions of man.  Now truly is the time to come back to L.I.F.E.Live in Full Expression–for you were meant to live and rest in total Peace![7]
