Truth Training Session #5: Step Over the T.R.A.S.H.

      Have you ever been riding in your vehicle, going for a walk or run and see someone throw trash out of their car?  I have, more times that I would have liked to see.  It is one of the most disrespectful things mankind can do to contaminate the beauty of God’s creation–nature.  Unfortunately, I must admit that there have been times while I am running through my neighborhood that I find myself dodging through the remains of someone’s lunch or dinner.

During one particular afternoon, the trash seemed to irritate me more than usual.  On the sidewalk, interfering with my progress, was a half eaten burger that was still in the wrapper, an empty fry container, and a few napkins laying right next to a take-out bag.  As I continued and still highly perturbed at the patron’s rudeness and plain trifling behavior, I asked The Ultimate Trainer what was the meaning of the mess.  Without much delay, I heard these words resonate from within…

Just step over the t.r.a.s.h for 
tormenting remembrances are satan’s hand!

     

      You see, I have been gifted with what I call a “Steven Spielberg Mind”.  Meaning I have the innate ability to create an entire movie out of one sentence.  Not only will the scenes be played out, often I must resist the temptation to feel every single emotion of a perceived reality that may never even happen.  Scary isn’t it?  I know.

      Additionally, I also have been gifted with “Total Recall”.  No, I’m not speaking of the movie.  I’m talking about having a memory that specializes in recalling the slightest detail of events.  Therefore, having “Total Recall” is one of my greatest assets; however, it also has the potential of being my greatest liability all depending on exactly which circumstances, events, and situations I allow my mind to meditate on.  Therefore, it was during that particular run that The Ultimate Trainer spoke His Mental Training Technique for the tormenting, oppressive, reoccurring spiritual encounter I have been experiencing for some time.

            There is no fear in Love; but Perfect Love casteth out fear:

Because fear hath torment.

He that feareth is not made perfect in Love.

1 John 4:18 KJV

      In 2006, Love told me to “Define my reality by His Word ONLY for anything else was a fallacy.”  This has been a profound, prophetic announcement in my ear because it became more and more apparent to me that I was in a fight for my life.  Since 1998, I knew either I was going to believe God and fight the good fight of faith or allow satan to have his way and the devil is a liar![1]  Purpose within me wouldn't let me quit, even when I considered giving up a viable option.

      However as the years passed by, although I was strengthened to become more determined, resilient, and tenacious, the evidence of demonic assault became even more fierce and personal.  Since the years of abuse, the tragic deaths of my relatives, the maligning of my name or the stealing of my belongings didn't destroy my faith in Love, fear decided to begin tormenting my mind with paralyzing remembrances of all I had endured.  At times, the internal conflict and pressure was so intense it felt like I was losing the battle for my mind.  Because of the lingering, painful memories of the past, my ability to remain steadfast and persistent in my passionate pursuit of Love & Life as well as staying focused on The Ultimate Trainer’s Vision of my future became even more challenging.

      Subsequently, it was with this Divine Strategy–step over the trash–that Love let me know how vitally important it was for me to begin being aggressively decisive about what thoughts I would meditate on.  My gift of “Total Recall” needed to go through some Intense Training Exercises so that I could have the necessary strength to run unhindered and unrestricted into the best days of my life.[2]   Unfortunately, every single time I chose to live (linger and hangout) in the past, I was actually falling into satan’s hand of mental torment.  No longer was it acceptable to allow certain “true facts” to remain alive, giving them permission to become perceived “Truths” about my life when they were lies.  With The Ultimate Trainer’s Help, now I’m even more fortified to come into a greater knowledge of Truth by learning to trust Him completely, count my losses as gain, take proactive steps of faith and move forward knowing my “Body Guard” had, still has, and will always have my back.[3]

      Listen well My Fellow Workout Buddy!  Know that the circumstantial induced diabolical trash that has been thrown which may have contaminated and polluted your past has no legal right to your present or your future.  Choose to step over it all and confidently fly in the sphere of perfect which promises to lead you to the good life that Love has prepared just for you.[4]  Always remember that The Ultimate Trainer is The Same God that kept you through it all and is more than able to deliver you completely from the sting and pain of their memory.

      Therefore, until next week…keep training to think for the ultimate change–a transformation!
