However at approximately 12 midnight because of Al and my differing sleeping patterns, there was a disruption in my time of slumber. While I was attempting to continue snoring the night away, the sounds from the television seemed to drown me out. Al was wide awake, finishing a movie we started the night before. Because I was familiar with the movie, I began asking Al questions, discussing certain aspects of the remaining scenes until the movie was finished.
By this time, Al was tired and ready to go to sleep; but, now I was wide awake, ready to dialogue some more. I really did attempt to return to my peaceful slumber; however, my spirit would not allow my mind or my body to rest. You see, I was hearing strategies for the following month’s Triple F-T Training, a whole month in advance. It has been my experience that if I am awakened and unable to fall back to sleep, there is a divine purpose – God is waiting to reveal something to me. Therefore, I arose from the bed, and said to myself, “Ok, Lord” and walked to my office.
While I was typing the outline and worksheet for the following month’s Triple F-T Training, God spoke these words into my spirit, “Don’t fight preparation.”
I had to chuckle at those words. I didn’t think I was fighting or resisting the preparation – I was awake and in my office...wasn’t I. Just a few weeks prior, during service Bishop T. D. Jakes released to us, “Don’t mess up what you don’t see because of what you do see.” Therefore, I sensed in my spirit that God was speaking not only about the actions towards preparation but more specifically about my attitude or perception of preparation. Let me explain.
Preparation is defined as the “act of preparing, being made ready, or equipped.” However, most people are not aware for what purpose they are being prepared. Let’s look at Joseph. Psalms 105:19 releases the revelation that the pit, Potiphar’s house, and prison were all places of preparation for Joseph. It was in those three places that Joseph’s character was being tried or prepared for the palace – the place of purpose God had prepared for him.
Again, “Don’t fight preparation.”
As I began to spiritually process and meditate on these three words, this additional revelation was released into my spirit: Preparation is the key to effectiveness. Our King-Father is all about effectiveness! Think about creation week, everything was created in divine order for the maximum Kingdom Results to manifest on earth. In the end of God's "Creation Assignment," He saw "It" was very good - the maximum Kingdom Results (Genesis 1:31).
In Jeremiah 29:11, it states that God has an expected end for each and every one of us. This expected end is a place called purpose, the divine original purpose or intent for which we were called out of eternity into time to accomplish. And more than just accomplish purpose, we were designed and mandated to accomplish purpose effectively with authentic divine force. God doesn’t just desire for us to finish; He created us to finish well.
Let me share a very profound imagery to provide greater clarification. Have you ever had the opportunity to view a city from one of the top floors of a skyscraper? It’s absolutely beautiful, especially at night. While visiting Chicago, I had the privilege of viewing the city from the Willis-Sears Towers. I was a little squeamish about getting so close to the windows. I could feel the building swaying ever so slightly back and forth as it gave way to the gusting winds.
We seem to always marvel at the magnificent regal structure of a skyscraper. However, were you aware that there is something significant that must be prepared and put into position before we could ever enjoy the heights of these buildings? These significant preparations are called “h-piles”; the steel beams that go into the ground as deep as the building is architecturally designed to go high. Without these steel beams, the buildings we enjoy viewing would not have a chance against the slightest wind or any other weather type opposition to its sky intrusive stature.
Likewise, the process of preparation is necessary to keep us stable in our place of purpose by building our character to handle the weight of the calling that is on our lives. Without the proper preparation, we would be ill-equipped to withstand the weight of the responsibilities that come with the place of purpose. Additionally, we would lack the proper preparation necessary for us to produce the maximum Kingdom results our King-Father expects out of His investment.
Once again…Don’t fight preparation; it’s the key to effectiveness!
Please receive this last word of advice: refrain from comparing yourself to any one else by choosing to embrace your personalized process of preparation. It’s important to know that one’s preparation time is proportionate to one’s purpose. You are a unique person with a distinctive purpose which requires divinely designed preparation processing time. Similar to those h-piles, the higher you’re designed to soar is the deeper in time the process of preparation will be for the purpose of producing results that will outlive you.
In closing, let’s consider Jesus. It was approximately thirty years before Jesus started his public ministry which lasted only three years – 10% of His preparation time. And yet, after thousands of years, we’re still talking about Jesus and the maximum Kingdom Results of His earthly ministry. He embraced and endured His process of preparation for effectiveness. Why not embrace and endure yours today!
